Our Story
Forro De Maas is a community founded in October 2024. It is dedicated to promoting Forró dance and music in the Netherlands. Founded with a passion for dancing, we bring together dancers, musicians, and enthusiasts from all backgrounds.
What is Forró?
Forró is a genre of Brazilian popular music that originated in the Northeast of Brazil. It encompasses various dance styles and musical rhythms, characterized by the use of the accordion, zabumba (bass drum), and triangle. The dance is intimate, joyful, and deeply connected to Brazilian cultural traditions.
Our Mission
We strive to create an inclusive environment where people can learn, practice, and enjoy Forró. Through regular events, workshops, and social gatherings, we aim to build a strong community that celebrates this wonderful cultural expression while fostering friendships and connections.
