Deep Time Walk Klimaatweek 2026

Over dit evenement

Join a Deep Time Walk during Klimaatweek Den Haag and experience the 4.6-billion-year story of our planet on foot.

A Deep Time Walk is a 4.6 km guided walk through the history of the Earth, with every metre representing one million years. Starting with the formation of our planet, we travel through some of the major events that shaped the Earth and life on it – from the first oceans and early life to photosynthesis, complex organisms, dinosaurs, mammals and, eventually, humans.

Along the way, science and storytelling are combined with moments to slow down, observe and reflect. Walking the timeline makes the enormous scale of Earth’s history surprisingly tangible and offers a very different perspective on our own place within it.

During Klimaatweek, this is an opportunity to approach questions about climate, nature and change from a much longer perspective – not by adding more information about what is happening today, but by stepping outside our usual timescales for a few hours.

The walk takes around 3 hours and will take place outdoors in The Hague. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.

The exact starting point and further practical information will be shared with registered participants closer to the event.
