From feeling disconnected to co-creating on the dance floor - for afro latin partner dancers. Come learn on three Saturdays over three months.

Do you know that feeling while dancing at a social, where you're stuck in your head? Overthinking every step, counting them in your head, afraid to make a mistake.

This workshop series teaches you how to get out of your head, reconnect with your intuition, and move with more curiosity and confidence, on and off the dance floor.

When we dare to express ourselves without overthinking, we create space for play. That's where true co-creation begins.

1️⃣Workshop 1 - Uncover Connection 😌
October 3, 11:30 - 13:30

Move from feeling disconnected back to your intuition.

You know the feeling: counting, thinking, trying to get it right. And somewhere in that process, the actual feeling disappears. This workshop gets you out of your head and back into feeling, whether you lead, follow, or both.

You'll learn to show up first for yourself, then for your dance partner. And when that's nailed, only then you go for the music. Because you can't feel what your partner is communicating, or connect to the music, until you're back in your own body first.

We'll work with techniques from yoga, dance, somatics, and authentic movement, within role rotation, so you experience both sides of the connection. You'll leave with a fresh new way to navigate the social dance floor because you'll learn how to feel what you want, and sense what your partner's communicating.

2️⃣ Workshop 2 - Uncover Curiosity 🧐
November 7, 11:30 - 13:30

From feeling connected to a deeper curiosity, opening space for creative play.

Now that you're more connected to your feeling, your partner and the music, you may still end up doing the same old moves.

This is the workshops where that shifts. Not through big changes, but through small ones in mindset. You'll open up your curious mindset that helps you break old patterns and find new ways to move together: coming up with new moves, adapting to your partner, adapting to mistakes. Because mistakes show the space for growth and creation, not the end of a dance.

We'll work with contact improvisation, role rotation, dance theater, and other creative techniques to find new ways of moving. You'll leave with the curiosity to move straight to the social dance floor, to make every dance more creative and unique.

3️⃣ Workshop 3 - Uncover Confidence 😎
December 12, 11:30 - 13:30

From curiosity to confident self-expression in co-creation. Let each dance become unique.

In the first two workshops you've worked on becoming more connected and more curious. Now it's time to get confident! It's time to leave that behind the voice in your head that asks: what if they judge me and don't want to dance with me again? What if I'm not good enough?

This is where we learn to trust ourselves, and start believing we're good enough. We build confidence by taking action, trusting that whatever happens, we can handle it. Confidence doesn't come from dancing perfectly. It comes from trusting yourself enough to grow from anything.

You'll learn to not wait for confidence, but to start from it. Using dance theatre, psychology, and authentic movement, we'll practice showing up fully and letting ourselves be seen - mistakes and all. True co-creation only happens when you both express yourselves fully. Then play comes with ease.
