AN ODE TO THE WOMAN, SCULP TO REMEMBER

An evening of stories, sculpture & the feminine.

We will gather around stories of matriarchy, women and the ancient architectures of feminine power. Not as an exercise in nostalgia, nor as an argument for one sex above another, but as an attempt to remember something that modern life has made strangely easy to forget:
that the feminine is not a category. It is a force of creation.

We will read stories of women who made worlds, carried worlds, survived worlds and imagined others. Stories in which the woman is not merely the muse, the mother, the lover or the object of someone else's gaze; but the origin of the gaze itself.

Why sculpt?
Think of Michelangelo: a life surrendered to the problem of beauty.
A hand working against stone until something hidden within it could emerge. Imagine taking that devotion and turning it toward the woman toward her intelligence, her sensuality, her contradictions, her capacity to create, destroy, nurture, desire, lead and begin again.

With clay as our material, we will make our own monuments.
Not necessarily monuments to an idealised woman, but to the women who are real. The woman with a body. The woman with desire. The woman who knows. The woman who doubts. The woman who carries too much. The woman who creates life, ideas, homes, movements, art.

Perhaps a body becoming a landscape. Perhaps a mother. A lover. A goddess. Yourself. Or a woman who has existed only in your imagination.
We are interested in what happens when an ephemeral feeling is given weight.

A body that will change, remembered in form.
A woman who will one day disappear, made ever present through matter.
Because perhaps this is what art has always attempted to do: to rescue something from time.

This evening is carried by;

Juliette Westerink, breathwork coach, facilitator and curator, creates events centering the body, and the non-verbal, ever exploring their ways of communication and how they help us move deeper with ourselves, others and the world. Through breath, art and story, she creates spaces where we can move beneath the noise of the mind and allow the non-verbal to share its wisdom.

Claire Strengers brings the evening through sculpture, story and an unapologetic devotion to feeling; inviting you to look at clay not as an inert material, but as living matter caught inside the long continuum of life: once earth, once living ground, now something waiting to become. To use you're sexual devotion to limitlessly create and let your inner artist be born!
