| Bodywork tools: gain confidence in giving massages
Through learning the basics of bodywork, we will support you in feeling more comfortable in intentional touch. The course will support you in understanding the body better, and aims at giving you a vocabulary and toolbox that you can later use to have your own conversations and make informed decisions when giving massage.
In this toolbox, you will find anatomy basics, qualities of touch, working with different techniques (compressions, stretches, breathwork, fascia work, pressure points…), how to receive and how to invite surrender, how to create a safer space for a session (for yourself and the receiver), and a sequence that you can use as a base framework to continue your journey. We aim for you to complete the course with more confidence in your touch and healing capacity.
This course is meant either for people curious to later on follow a professional training, or for those wanting to enrich their general skills.
You will be encouraged to practice in between classes as much as you can, to get some “miles under your hands” and build up your sensitivity for massage. There are two weeks in between each class to leave you the space and time to integrate, practice and reflect.
| Practicals
When? November 2nd, 16th, 30th and December 14th, from 18:30 to 21:30 (you can arrive from 18:00, and the space will be open until 22:00 for a soft transition and/or room for more practice or questions)
Where? at Het Hart, at Disketteweg 1 (free parking)
Costs? €275 for the 4 sessions. This is a low price, as it is intended as a try-out for the two facilitators to experiment and practice sharing their skills and knowledge.
We will warm-up together, then use the first half of the class for anatomy, theory, exercises, demos, etc. After a short break, in the second part of the class, there will be an exchange where you will both give and receive.
| About the facilitators
Anaïs is a French bodyworker and social worker. She started her journey with massage 10 years ago, taking evening classes of Thai and Shiatsu massage after university. In 2020, she graduated from the Vancouver School of Healing Arts as a Holistic Massage Therapist (700 hours training). She is currently finishing her Zen Thai Shiatsu Therapist training.
She is passionate about sharing the curiosity, playfulness, care, sacredness and deep presence that she experiences through bodywork; the reverence for each individual, the gift of guiding people deeper into themselves. Her background as a dancer, artist and philosopher guides her practice of seeing touch and bodywork as an Art.
Jasper is a Dutch bodyworker with over 10 years of experience in massage and bodywork. He studied at the Akademie voor Massage en Beweging in Amsterdam and trained in Nuad Boran Thai massage in Chiang Mai. He is currently completing his Zenthai Therapist training.
His background in martial arts, yoga, movement, and his previous career as a photographer have shaped his intuitive and embodied approach to bodywork. He is present, grounded and attentive, combining firmness with sensitivity. For Jasper, massage is both a practice of connection and a journey of self-exploration, inviting people to reconnect with their bodies and themselves.
