** How can you become more available to what is actually happening when you dance?
** How can you allow the dance that wants to emerge?
** How can you experience that there is more dance to be danced?

The CI program The Whole Dancer addresses these questions. Over six monthly weekends, we work across the full landscape of what Contact Improvisation asks of you – as an integrated practice that develops the dancer as a whole.

There are the somatic, the technical, the relational and the creative dimensions of the dance. They lean on each other – development in one area resonates through the others. We will discover how we can develop in terms of understanding, awareness and skill in all of them.

The intention is that more of what your dance can be is allowed to unfold. We recognise the habits, convictions and assumptions we all carry about the body and its movement – and we explore a wider range of possibilities. Through refinement, through opening up what movement can be, and through a willingness to let the familiar way of doing things stop being the only way.

The program will also include foundational practices and scores that are part of the lineage of Contact Improvisation – practices that carry the intelligence of how CI was developed and that can deepen your attunement to the dance. Part of this program is passing on that legacy: the history, the essential exercises, and the understanding of what this practice actually is and where it comes from.

This weekend will be the opening weekend, the first of the six. If you are not sure yet if you want to join, you can use this weekend to see how you feel about joining

** For who?
The program is for CI dancers who want to learn and grow. You need enough experience to be comfortable in the movement CI asks of you — giving your weight happens without hesitation, with clarity about what it means. And you bring a genuine curiosity about who you are as a dancer and what your dance can become.
