Bridging spaces

In this Impro Dance course the inside and outside spaces meet. The way we listen to our inner body landscape informs the way we move through our environment. We will explore the flow of information in between the inner space of the body and the space we inhabit. By contacting the movement impulses coming from within, we find more ease in connecting with others.

In class we start with tuning into our own body before we open up to someone else or another situation. A practice of deep listening to what is wanting to happen in the moment is part of the warming-up and the rest of class. Play and collaboration are at the heart of what we do, including exercises, invitations and making instant compositions together.

Some questions that we will follow:
How do we allow for play with our sensations in a changing environment?
How can we let the specific qualities of a particular place speak to us?
How does changing your perspective change your movement vocabulaire?

This course ends with an informal presentation in which we will work together with the 2 groups together in a larger space (Volksdansvereniging Nitsanim) on the 7th of July. You get to invite your own audience for a personal peek into the process of what it means to practice dance improvisation.
